An 11-year-old boy is said to be doing well and recovering after undergoing treatment following an ATV crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Beech Grove Community west of Jasper
Family members say the accident occurred at about 2:00 near County Road 138 when Blu Martindale and five other youths were riding an ATV which struck a fallen limb and rolled over.
Blu is the son of Jasper County Precinct 1 Commissioner Seth Martindale, and he was taken by private vehicle to Jasper Memorial Hospital and he was then flown by medical helicopter to a Houston hospital.
Doctors in Houston performed surgery for a head injury, and he is now reported to be in good condition and rapidly improving.
Blu said that he wants to encourage everyone to always wear a seat belt when riding in atv.
