Crystal Holmes with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 36-year-old Cameron Powell of Vidor. The report said deputies and other first responders rushed to the Beaumont Clean Ammonia plant, inside the old Beaumont Works terminal, off Twin City Highway, just outside the Beaumont city limits, shortly after 8:00, when it was reported that Powell had fallen some 60 to 70 feet while working in a tank. Powell was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he died at about 9:30 a.m. A spokesperson for the company, Woodside Energy later said the incident occurred during work activity being carried out at the site and that all other people at the site were safe and accounted for.
