Polk County Today is reporting that one person was killed and two others were very seriously injured in a Thursday night head-on collision. It happened shortly before 9:00 on Highway 190, about 4 miles east of Livingston. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Tomoma McGowen, 57, of Livingston, was driving a 2016 Ford Explorer eastbound and crossed into the westbound lane and hit a 2010 Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan, Maria Fernandez, 74, of Lufkin, died at the scene, while a passenger in the Nissan, Ana Salaiz, 68, of Diboll, and the driver of the Ford, McGowen, were both flown by medical helicopter to a Houston hospital.
