A Woodville teacher suffered a catastrophic arm injury in a Sunday evening crash in Jasper County. It happened at about 5:00 on Highway 190 East near the entrance to the Louisiana Pacific Mill. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, 45-year-old Laura Cox was the passenger in a 1997 Toyota pickup truck being driven westbound by 49-year-old Scott Cox. Sergeant Clark said the front driver-side wheel and tire assembly suddenly became detached from the truck, which sent it across the eastbound lane and then off the highway where it collided with trees. The male driver wasn't injured, but the female passenger was rushed by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital after firefighters and paramedics could not get a helicopter to the scene. Laura Cox is reportedly a special education teacher within Woodville ISD.
