A woman was seriously injured in a Wednesday afternoon crash. It happened at about 3:00 on Farm to Market Road 2800 at County Road 124, just northwest of Jasper. The passenger, Thomas David, said his wife, 55-year-old Latasha David, was driving their 2008 Dodge pickup truck westbound when she went off the road and lost control. The truck then slid off the opposite side of the highway, rolled over multiple times, and then hit trees. He wasn’t injured, but his wife had serious injuries to her head. Also she was trapped in the vehicle, so Jasper firefighters had to use the Jaws-of-Life to get the door open. DPS Trooper David Hardy was one of the first on the scene and he held pressure on the woman’s bleeding wounds and also spoke to her to comfort her until an ambulance crew arrived. She was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital to be stabilized and then flown by medical helicopter to St Luke's Hospital in Lufkin.
