“I missed my turn and GPS told me to make a u-turn, so I did”, that was the excuse given by a truck driver after he made a u-turn at the top of a steep hill and his trailer was hit by a woman driving a 2024 Ford Bronco as she topped the hill. The resident of Huntington was injured and her vehicle went up in flames. The crash occurred at about 3:30 Friday afternoon on Highway 63 West at the top of “Camel Hill” in the Curtis Community. According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, the driver was 34-year-old Ashley Robinson who was transported to CHI Hospital in Lufkin with non-life-threatening injuries. Sergeant Clark identified the truck driver as 57-year-old Richard Ellis, of Corrigan, and the 2017 Peterbilt truck he was driving is owned by Elite Forestry LLC in Chester. Clark said Ellis received a citation for making a u-turn on top of a hill or in a curve.
