NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - Natchitoches Police Department reported that Derek Nash, 24, of Natchitoches is wanted in connection to an attempted murder on December 7. At around 9:20 p.m. authorities responded to the 1400 block of Texas Street after receiving reports that a person had been shot. At the scene, they found a victim with two gunshot wounds and began to render aid. The victim was then taken to a hospital in Rapides for treatment and was released on Sunday. While detectives canvassed the scene and collected bullet casings as evidence, investigators reportedly spoke with witnesses who identified Nash as the suspect. Anyone who has seen Derek Nash is asked to contact NPD at (318) 352-8101 or Detective Davanta Stevenson at (318) 357-3814. Per NPD, Nash is considered to be armed and dangerous. NPD said more information will be released as it becomes available. This investigation is ongoing.
