Deputies, firefighters, and state troopers were busy in the south end of Jasper County on Monday afternoon as the Kirbyville, Buna, and Evadale areas were slammed by severe thunderstorms. The weather resulted in two non-injury wrecks and numerous downed trees. One of the collisions occurred on Highway 62 in Buna and another one was on Farm to Market Road 2246, east of Evadale. Trees were also reported down on Highway 62 near the Buna Fire Department and on Business Highway 96 in Buna. Later, a tree and power lines were reported to be down on County Road 451 near Kirbyville. As of 6:00 pm on Monday, a total of 3.2 inches of rainfall have been recoreded at KJAS which is on the east side of Jasper.
