SHREVEPORT, La. - People across the ArkLaTex are being warned about a new scam targeting Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) customers. Fraudsters are calling customers, falsely claiming they are eligible for a refund and requesting their bank account information to process the payment.
SWEPCO has confirmed that these calls are not legitimate and emphasizes that it will never call customers to demand immediate payment or request sensitive financial details. Customers who receive such fraudulent calls, emails, or in-person visits should immediately hang up, delete the email, or refuse to engage.
