Vehicle crashes into a Kirbyville meat market

Police in Kirbyville are reporting that no injuries occurred when a vehicle went through the front wall of Tom Jr's Meat Market on Monday afternoon. Police and other emergency crews were dispatched to the location in the 1000 Block of South Margaret, also known as Highway 96, shortly after 2:00 when it was reported that the accident had occurred, leaving the dining section of the business in shambles. Officers said the driver of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz sport utility vehicle, Mary Claude, 63, of Kirbyville, told them that she was in the process of parking in front of the business when she accidently hit the gas instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to slam into the front wall of the business. Claude and her passenger, Connie Blanton, 75, also of Kirbyville, were not injured in the crash. Employees of the store were shaken by the close call but also not injured.
