There’s good economic news for Orange County, and it’s also good news for those who live in the southern portions of Jasper and Newton Counties and need good jobs. USG Paper, LLC has announced plans to acquire and reopen the former International Paper Plant in Orange. Construction is slated to begin late this year and the facility should be up and running in early 2028. The company, which produces paper, wallboard and gypsum products, says they’ll be hiring about 100 people initially, and up to 150 people in the next few years. The company has received monetary incentives from the City of Orange to help get them started.
