Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard says a pair of his deputies who were off duty Tuesday night noticed a pair of theft suspects inside the Jasper WalMart and promptly placed them both into custody. Havard says the case began on Wednesday, January 22nd when Newton County residents William Boughner, 38, and Lacey J. Ozan, 42, stole numerous items from a business in Kirbyville. The sheriff said during the crime, Boughner unknowingly dropped his wallet and left the store, and that’s how he was identified. According to Havard, Deputy Karli Cherry and Sergeant Kasey Hawthorne arrested the suspects and they were booked into the Jasper County Jail under a charge of Theft of Property-Shoplifting.
