Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby on Monday released the name of a man who drowned in Toledo Bend Reservoir late Saturday afternoon. Burby says he was 23-year-old Noah Roden, who was swimming in a cove in the far southwest corner of the lake. Burby said Roden, who was a Lamar University Student from Fred was swimming with a group of other students who had been attending a ministries camp at a location on Ridgecrest Drive. Roden drowned at about 4:36 Saturday afternoon. Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens and Bon Wier firefighters searched for his body until nightfall, and then they resumed the search on Sunday morning and recovered his body at about 9:25.
