Update: Julius Winfield has been captured
SABINE PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office is on a manhunt for a man wanted in connection with a shooting that happened near Many in July. SPSO said they were searching for Julius Winfield IV off LA Highway 175 and Fire Tower Road south of Pleasant Hill. SPSO deputies spotted Winfield in a vehicle when he bailed and ran into the woods off Fire Tower Road. Several agencies and resources are searching for Winfield, including Desoto Parish Sheriff Deputies, K-9, drone and helicopter resources. SPSO has asked everyone in the area of Fire Tower, Ray Canton, Miles, Progress Church and Moffett Lane to secure their vehicles. According to SPSO, the shooting happened at an event off Newton Road, west of Many, on July 13. The event had close to 1,000 people in attendance when, for unknown reasons, Winfield allegedly shot into the crowd. SPSO said three people were struck by gunfire. Winfield is wanted for multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic abuse and terrorizing. If you see anyone fitting Winfield’s description, call 911. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone caught assisting Winfield escape from the area will be arrested on felony charges.
