Jasper Police are reporting that two people have been arrested following a traffic stop that occurred on Wednesday evening. Police Chief Garrett Foster said officers from the department's narcotics investigation team were performing their duties when they spotted a vehicle traveling in a suspicious nature. He said the officers followed the vehicle out of the city and into the county while notifying sheriff's situation. According to Foster, the vehicle was later stopped by a deputy and a male and female in the vehicle were taken into custody and taken to the Jasper County Jail where they were expected to be charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. in addition, Foster said the male suspect was already named in an unrelated warrant charging him with drug possession. Foster said "The Jasper Police Department is committed to combatting the drug problem in Jasper and will continue to partner with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office and any other agency to get the job done!" The names of the suspects arrested or any other details have not been released pending formal charges and arraignment.
