Police in Silsbee have confirmed two more suspects have been arrested and are now being held at the Hardin County Jail in Kountze in connection with a shooting that occurred back in 2021 in what investigators say was a drug deal gone bad. The arrests are apparently result of an investigation that has been going on for over four years.
Bruce Wayne Newton, Jr., 26, and Kyriq Wyatt, 23, are each held on total bonds of $1.5 million set by Justice of the Peace Rod Ousley on charges including: Murder ($500,000 bond); Aggravated Robbery ($500,00 bond); Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon ($300,000 bond); and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($200,000 bond).
Newton, Wyatt join three other suspects who were also charged with murder back in 2021 shortly after the shooting occurred leaving Jerimiah Grant, 19, dead on West Marting Luther King Drive not far from Pine Street.
At the time, police said it appeared that Grant was shot inside of a vehicle, pushed out, and left on the road where he died.
