Two people were injured when an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck collided early Tuesday morning in Hardin County. It happened at about 4:30 on Highway 105, just west of Batson. The Texas Department of Public Safety said Joe Bailey, 46, of Georgia was driving a 2012 Freightliner eastbound, while Raymond Howard, Jr., 32, of Hitchcock, was driving a 2015 Dodge pickup truck westbound. Troopers said Howard crossed the center line and side-swiped the big-rig. Howard, who had serious injuries, was flown by medical helicopter to a Kingwood hospital while Bailey, who had non-life-threatening injuries, was transported by ambulance to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
