Two men were arrested and one was lucky that he didn’t get electrocuted after Jasper Police say they were trying to steal electric wire on Friday afternoon.
The report said officers responded to the crime in progress at 350 Springhill Street and arrived to find 40-year-old Patrick Mease, of Jasper, cutting wires out of an electrical box on a utility pole. Police said Mease was arrested along with another man, 41-year-old Roger Putnam, also of Jasper.
The report said officers found a tote bag full of copper wire that had been cut and also tools.
Both men were taken to the Jasper County Jail and charged with Theft of Material.
