The Angelina County Sheriff’s Department says a man was killed when a pickup truck crashed completely through his house early Thursday morning and the driver didn’t stop. It happened shortly before 7:00 in the Moffett Community, located just northeast of Lufkin.
The report said deputies and a state trooper arrived to find that the victim, 70-year-old Robert Boles, had been hit and killed by the truck.
State troopers began following a trail left by the damaged truck and they found it at a house about three miles away. The report said that the damaged truck had been covered with a tarp and another truck had been parked behind it in an attempt to hide it.
Investigators determined that the truck had been driven by Jorge Urbina Lopez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who had been previously deported, but re-entered the United States. The report said they found him inside another house and he was trying to hide underneath a bed and they had to wrestle him into custody.
According to the report, Lopez had over a dozen warrants for traffic violations and he had been arrested several times for various crimes.
