The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department says a man and woman have been arrested after they were accused of stealing catalytic converters.
According to the report, at about 5:30 Wednesday evening deputies were sent to the Roganville Community where it was reported that a catalytic converter theft had just occurred and the caller was following the suspects after they drove away.
The report said deputies stopped them on Highway 96 near Kirbyville and arrested them. They’re identified as Phillip LaWayne Winkle, 55, of Spurger and Teresa Gail Johnson, 58, of Woodville.
According to the report, they admitted to stealing two catalytic converters and the deputies found the items in their vehicle and also the tools used to remove them from vehicles.
Winkle and Johnson were both charged with felony Theft of Catalytic Converters.
