Shelby County Sheriff Kevin W. Windham has announced that the Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate alleged criminal conduct by a constable in that county. According to Sheriff Windham, it involves Constable Roy Cheatwood and a situation with a family about a dispute over land which involves a lawsuit. Windham says on Sunday his deputies were sent to a location in the Joaquin area where the family alleged that Cheatwood had tampered with their water well, and that he had also committed the crime of official oppression. According to Sheriff Windham, his deputies took an initial report and then turned the case over to the Texas Rangers.
