RAPIDES PARISH, La. — A 13-year-old girl from Oakdale died early Sunday in a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) crash on West River Road, south of Louisiana Highway 462, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers from LSP Troop E responded to the crash around 12:06 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Can-Am Outlander UTV, driven by a juvenile, was traveling north on West River Road when the driver lost control for unknown reasons. The UTV left the roadway and struck a parked Honda Foreman UTV.
The impact ejected both juveniles from the Can-Am and the driver from the parked Honda Foreman.
The passenger, identified as Kyndal Vidrine, 13, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The juvenile driver and the Honda Foreman driver suffered minor injuries and were also taken to a local hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
