Police in Beaumont arrest suspect in Saturday shooting of man killed while mowing his yard

The man accused of shooting and killing a Beaumont man who was mowing his lawn Saturday has been arrested in Houston.

Larry Fitzgerald Williams, 54, was taken into custody in Houston by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office Warrant Division working in conjunction with the Houston Police Department. Williams was arrested around 6:45 Monday morning.

Beaumont police have been searching for Williams who was accused of killing a man while the victim was mowing a lawn, and the same suspect was once on the run for a violent attack against the same man he's accused of the killing.

Police say Williams who was riding a motorcycle fired shots as he drove by the home of 51-year-old Bryan Lewis on Delaware Street on Saturday afternoon while Lewis was riding riding a lawn mower and mowing his yard.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene by a Jefferson County Justice of the Peace who later issued a warrant for the arrest of Williams after police obtained information that was said to identify him as a suspect in the case.

A long standing feud between the two men is thought to be the motive for the crime.
