Beaumont Police on Thursday identified a suspect in a New Years night murder, and he was already in the Jefferson County Jail on a charge of Tampering with Evidence. Jason Murchison, 18, is accused of shooting 54-year-old Clifford Motton who was riding a bicycle on St Helena Street in northeast Beaumont. Motton was taken to a hospital where he died shortly after arrival. Beaumont police detectives recovered numerous bullet casings at the scene.
