Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A law enforcement pursuit in Orange County on Tuesday morning ended with the suspect being shot and killed. Meanwhile, two law enforcement officers were injured. According to Orange County Deputy Colton Havard, it began as a disturbance in Bridge City and the suspect fled from police. Havard said the chase went onto Highway 73 where a Chambers County Constable was on a motorcycle and escorting trucks hauling heavy equipment. The constable, who wasn’t identified, was injured by one of the law enforcement vehicles involved in the pursuit. The chase then went into Orange and ended at the intersection of 16th Street at Green Avenue with officers opening fire and killing the suspect. Havard noted that one of the officers was struck in the leg by what they believe was a bullet that ricocheted. Fortunately, the injuries to that officer and also the Chambers County Constable are not life threatening. The name of the dead suspect has not yet been released. The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate the officer involved shooting.
