Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby says a man has now been charged following a shooting at the former exotic cat refuge just east of Kirbyville on County Road 3075. It happened during the noon hour on Tuesday. According to Sheriff Burby, 19-year-old Henry Shaw, of Kirbyville, is accused of shooting 36-year-old Brandon D. Diggles, of Newton County. Diggles showed up at the Jasper Memorial Hospital emergency room suffering from two gunshot wounds, which were reportedly non-life threatening. Burby says Shaw has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and his bond was set at $20,000.00. Meanwhile, what led up to the shooting is not known and the sheriff said the investigation is continuing.
