Student injured in crash involving Rusk ISD bus

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Tuesday morning crash involving a Rusk ISD bus resulted in one injured student. According to Rusk ISD officials, the school bus involved in the wreck belonged to their school district and have stated that all students on board of the bus during the collision are safe. The wreck occurred on CR 2117 just before FM 1248. According to a Texas DPS preliminary report released shortly before noon, the crash happened around 7:04 a.m. According to the release, the driver of the passenger car failed to yield to a stop sign and struck the bus as a result. One bus passenger was taken to a Jacksonville hospital, which was later confirmed to be a Rusk ISD student by DPS Sergeant Chris Williamson. The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to a Tyler hospital. The scene remains active and authorities advise commuters to avoid the area to prevent further congestion.
