Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox says six people were rescued after two boats capsized and began sinking on a rough Toledo Bend Reservoir on Sunday evening. Maddox said both boats were rounding a bend and suddenly hit a wave which rolled them over. The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 as a thunderstorm passed through the area. Sabine County deputies along with Parks & Wildlife game wardens and Pendleton Harbor firefighters responded to the incident, which occurred near Indian Mounds and just south of Butlers Point. Sheriff Maddox said fortunately it occurred close to land and all six people were able to swim to shore. They were then picked up and brought in.
