An accident involving a small passenger car and an 18-wheeler during the noon hour on Monday in Kirbyville left a woman with serious injuries. It happened at the intersection of Highway 96 at Farm to Market Road 82. Kirbyville Police said 75-year-old Yolanda Morgan, of the Call Community, was driving the car westbound on FM 82 when she failed to stop at a red light. Her car then struck the 18-wheeler which was going through the intersection on Highway 96. Kirbyville firefighters had to rescue Morgan from her vehicle. She was then taken by ambulance to the Kirbyville Airport and then flown by medical helicopter to a Beaumont hospital. The truck driver, Ray Higginbotham, 54, of Vidor, was not injured.
