A resident of Silsbee is facing numerous charges following an incident that is reported to have occurred on Friday in the Buna Area.
Officers from Jasper County Sheriff's Department reportedly responded to a case of trespass and upon arriving at the residence found Joshua Champaign, 38, who appeared to be drunk behind the wheel of a vehicle. However, a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a small amount of a prohibited drug, and two handguns.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said he and others would be asking the courts to charge Champaign with Driving While Intoxicated, along with theft ofhile intoxicated with a blood alcohol content over .15, possession of a controlled substance under one gram, and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Sheriff Chuck Havard emphasized the department's commitment to combating criminal activity in Jasper County. Champaign is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
