SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A man wanted on multiple warrants escaped and fled from officers then ultimately took his own life on Lake Street in Shreveport, authorities said. On Sunday (May 19) at 12:09 a.m., the Shreveport Police Department (SFD) was doing daily patrol monitoring a park after hours when they spotted a suspicious vehicle at Airport Park, 6500 Kennedy Drive. When officers went to investigate, they encountered a man in a Toyota Camry. The man had 16 city warrants, so officers attempted to make an arrest. But he was able to escape back to his vehicle. The man led police on a chase that ended in the 300 block of Lake Street, where police said the man self-inflicted a gunshot to his head. The man was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation.
