LASALLE PARISH, La. (KALB) - Louisiana State Police announced on Sunday, May 19 that a man from Pineville died due to a fatal crash that morning. According to authorities, the victim was Dustin Rachal, 21, of Pineville. At around 7 a.m., police responded to reports of a one-vehicle crash west of Whitehall on U.S. Hwy 84. LSP stated that, for reasons still under investigation, Rachal’s vehicle ran off U.S. Hwy 84, down an embankment and crashed into several trees. Rachal, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, was fatally injured and passed away at the scene. Authorities collected routine toxicology samples for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
