Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Tuesday morning that a routine traffic stop in the Buna Area had resulted in the arrest of an individual after illegal drugs were allegedly found in the vehicle he was driving.
Havard said it all began shortly before 6:00 on Monday evening when Deputy John Harrell was dispatched to County Road 746 for a suspicious vehicle.
Havard said Harrell arrived at the scene and soon spotted the vehicle and upon stopping Richard Johnson, he found a pipe used to smoke narcotics along with discovered 3.2 grams of suspected powder cocaine, 3.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 4.7 grams of suspected marijuana.
Havard said Johnson, 58, of Buna was taken into custody and taken to the Jasper County Sheriff's Department where he would be charged with possession of a controlled substance.
