NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Natchitoches police arrested a 34-year-old man Tuesday after officers serving search warrants in the city’s Highland Park area said they found two handguns and ammunition magazines.
Natchitoches Police Department said Gregory Tyler was booked on a charge of unlawful handling of a machine gun.
According to the department, officers from its narcotics division, the Violent Crimes Task Force and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit carried out two search warrants about 7 a.m. in the 400 block of Rowena Street.
Police said the warrants stemmed from a lengthy investigation into reports of illegal activity in the Highland Park neighborhood.
During the searches, investigators said they seized a Glock 9mm pistol, a Glock .357- caliber pistol, a 15-round magazine and a 30-round magazine.
Tyler was taken to the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, police said.
