SAN AUGUSTINE, Texas (KTRE) - A San Augustine police officer died Sunday, the police chief said.
San Augustine police officer Cody LeVassar died while off duty early Sunday, according to a statement from the department.
The San Augustine Police Department announced LeVassar’s death but did not release additional details about the circumstances.
“Officer LeVassar was a dedicated law enforcement officer, a loving family man, and a valued friend to many,” Chief Jonathan Sowell said in a statement. “His commitment to serving others and his devotion to his family and community will never be forgotten.”
The department asked the community to keep LeVassar’s family in their prayers and requested prayers for department personnel as they grieve the loss.
“Officer Cody LeVassar’s sacrifice and service will forever remain a part of the San Augustine Police Department,” Sowell said. “He will be deeply missed and always remembered.”
