MANY, La -- A Sabine Parish man who was shot in the leg after shooting at a deputy is now behind bars. James Olin Manshack Jr., 36, of Many, was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center Wednesday night. He was released earlier that evening after being treated at Ochsner LSU Health hospital in Shreveport. Manshack was shot once in the right leg. The deputy he shot at was not injured. The incident happened Monday morning when Manshack ran from deputies who were looking for him on outstanding arrest warrants. Deputies said Manshack ran behind a house and shot at a deputy as he rounded the corner. Manshack is charged with:
- Attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer
- Illegal carrying of a weapon
- Illegal use of a weapon
- Possession of firearm by person convicted of certain felonies
- Resisting an officer by force or violence
- Failure to registered address by sex offender
- Failure to register phone number by sex offender
- Failure to notify the community by sex offender
- Failure to register social media account by sex offender
- Failure to display sex offender status on social media account
- Failure to register alias name by sex offender
- State probation/parole violation.
