Rider of motorcycle dies following crash in nearby Orange County

The Texas Department of Public Safety is reporting that the rider of a motorcycle died in an accident that occurred on Friday evening. Officers said the crash occurred shortly after 10:00 on Farm to Market Road 105 not far from away from Ponderosa Street. According to the preliminary investigation, a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling north at an unsafe speed. The rider lost control, skidding into the oncoming lane where the motorcycle was struck by a southbound GMC pickup. The rider of the motorcycle Sheldon Withrow, 20, of Lumberton was pronounced dead at the scene by an Orange County Justice of the Peace. The driver of the GMC, identified as 18-year-old Kaiden James of Orange, was not injured in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time
