CHESTER, Texas (KTRE) - A Corrigan man is behind bars after the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office says he assaulted deputies and resisted arrest after trying to break into a Chester bank, according to the sheriff’s office.
Wesley Harris, 28, of Corrigan, was held Tuesday at the Tyler County Jail on bonds totaling $145,000 for two counts charging him with assaulting a peace officer, along with charges of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and terroristic threats, according to a press release.
Around 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Tyler County deputies were dispatched to the BOM Bank after gas station employees across the street reported a man trying to break into the bank, according to the release.
Upon arriving, deputies attempted to detain Harris when he began resisting and hit a deputy in the face and kicked another in the knee, according to the release.
After additional deputies arrived, it was discovered Harris was in possession of 2.5 grams of meth, according to the release.
Faced with multiple felonies, Harris could face between two and 20 years in prison if convicted.
