SINGER, La. (KPLC) - A man accused of stealing a gun and aiming it at people’s homes is now in custody after an hours-long manhunt north of Singer.
Kade LaCaze, 26, of Singer, faces the following counts:
- Theft of a firearm
- Assault with a firearm
- Terrorizing
- Resisting an officer
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (two counts)
Around 8:55 a.m., the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about a stolen firearm from a neighborhood on Charlie Cooley Road, Sheriff Mark Herford said. According to the caller, the suspect was still in the neighborhood, aiming the gun at neighbors’ houses.
When deputies arrived, the suspect ran away, beginning an hours-long manhunt, according to Herford. BPSO deployed K9 units and drones, and was assisted by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and DeRidder Fire Department.
LaCaze was spotted on a drone and eventually taken into custody near Newlin Cemetery Road around 2:12 p.m., Herford said. He was booked into the Beauregard Parish jail just before 6 p.m., according to jail records.
Deputies have not yet located the stolen gun, and Herford asks anyone with additional information to call BPSO at 337-463-3281.
