Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons says that his department currently has 57 county jail inmates being kept in the Beauregard Parish Jail in DeRidder due to overcrowding issues in the Polk County Jail.

Lyons said that the only other available jail space they could find in Texas was in Eagle Pass, which is 360 miles from Livingston.

The sheriff says Beauregard Parish is charging $60.00 per day per inmate.
