A resident of Beaumont narrowly escaped injury and possibly death on Saturday evening when a tree suddenly fell on the vehicle he was driving here in Jasper.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:00 in the 600 block of East Martin Luther King Boulevard, when the dead tree, which was on the north side of the street, came crashing down, busting out the windshield of Kenneth Shankle's Ford F-150 truck.
The section of MLK was blocked for time until Shankle's truck and the log and limbs of the tree could be removed from the roadway.
