Police in Beaumont report a two-year-old girl is safe and her father is in custody after a standoff that began shortly after 6:00 on Thursday evening ended on Friday morning, according to Officer Chancellor Van Houten.
Officers say the series of events leading to police action began when officers responded to a disturbance which was reported at a home in 1700 block of Rena Street, in the city's South Park Area.
Van Houten said that when officers arrived on scene a man who was later identified as 25 year old Larry William barricaded the front door with his young daughter inside.
When he refused to come out, police called for the SWAT team. A number of officers were on scene, along with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to help block the nearby roads.
Police were able to safely get the two-year-old girl out of the home and finally took Williams into custody at around 3:30, which was about nine hours after the standoff began
Police say say Williams allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, endangered their child, and he had a felony warrant for his arrest.
The incident occurred near Virginia Street where a shooting took place on Thursday morning leaving a man severely injured and an alleged shooter in jail
