JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KLTV) - Jacksonville police say an incident where a pedestrian was fatally hit by a train Friday was an “intentional act by the victim.” Police say the pedestrian walked in front of the train ignoring the train’s warning horns. He was struck and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release. Police say the events occurred around 11 a.m. in the 100 block of Gillespie. The victim was a 61-year-old male from Nevada. His identity has not yet been released as authorities work with Smith County forensic Medical Services and Nevada authorities to find next of kin. Both the rail line and Gillespie Street are open as normal.
