PANOLA COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - The Panola County Sheriff’s Office has been working with other agencies on a manhunt Wednesday evening.

According to Sheriff Cutter Clinton, as of 7:40 p.m., the agencies conducting the search believe that the suspect is no longer in the immediate area. He said that deputies will continue to patrol overnight.

If you see any suspicious activity or would like a deputy to check your home or property, Clinton said to please contact the PCSO at (903) 693-0333.

Earlier in the day, Clinton said several outside law enforcement agencies were looking for a fugitive in the area of CR 198 and CR 176 on the south side of Lake Murvaul.

Deputy sheriffs were on scene to assist. Tracking dogs, horses, and drones were in use, Clinton said. He asked that everyone please avoid the area of the search.

Residents were encouraged to lock their doors and vehicles and secure outside pets if possible.
