BEAUMONT, Texas (KTRE) - A Crockett man has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison on federal firearm charges in connection with a shooting at the sheriff’s office parking lot.
Clifford Heniser Jr. was arrested March 15 after entering the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and claiming to be a federal agent, requesting “federal reports.” According to information presented in court, a dispatcher asked him to wait for a deputy to arrive. He then left and returned with an AR-15, ultimately firing about 30 rounds into the air while walking through the parking lot, the sheriff’s office reported in March. Multiple officers responded to the scene, and Heniser was disarmed. Two guns were taken from him, and he was arrested.
Since Heniser was already a felon, he was prohibited from owning guns.
Heniser was issued a federal detainer at that time for unlawful carry of a firearm by a felon and was turned over to federal custody.
Federal District Judge Marcia A. Crone also sentenced Heniser to three years of supervised release which will begin after he gets out of prison. His 51-month federal prison sentence will begin after his sentence on a pending case in Trinity County.
The Wednesday sentence follows Heniser’s guilty plea in August.
