There was only minor injuries after a car and a pickup truck collided. Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth said it happened at about 2:30 Saturday afternoon on Highway 87 just north of Recreational Road 255 in northeast Newton County. According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, 19-year-old Yowceph Hubbard, of California, was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry northbound and turned in front of a southbound 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck which was pulling a boat, and the two vehicles collided. Clark said Hubbard and his passenger, Jazzmyn Adams, 19, also of California, were taken by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, Charles McGee, Jr, 57, and his passenger, Kevin Comeaux, 60, both of Westlake, Louisiana, were not injured.
