Officers get break in recent armed robberies

Officers say an armed robbery in nearby Hardin County has lead to arrests in connection with not only a robbery there but two recent robberies here in the Jasper and Newton Area. Investigators said the break came when someone robbed the Vape-N-More Store in on Farm to Market 92 in Silsbee on Wednesday. The chief Deputy of the Jasper County Sheriff's Department, Scotty Duncan said evidence obtained as a result of the crime revealed the identity of not only suspects in the recent armed robberies that occurred at the Vape-N-More Stores here in Jasper and Newton. Duncan said three suspects, all said to be juveniles have been taken into custody. However, the names of the suspects and other information have not been released due to their age. Duncan said the arrests were made at a home in Kirbyville and that officers from the Jasper and Hardin County Sheriff's Department along with the Kirbyville, Jasper and Newton Police Departments were involved in the serving of a search warrant and the arrests. Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis said a vehicle which was believed to be used in the robbery at the store in Silsbee was locate at the parking lot of the Kirbyville High School. Duncan said he welcomed the partnership and assistance with the other agencies that resulted in the arrests. Word is that all three suspects are being held at a juvenile detention facility in Kountze.
