Newton Fire Department Captain Melanie Smith says there were no injuries when a truck and trailer went off a highway and then jack-knifed in Newton County on Wednesday afternoon. It happened shortly after 3:00 on Highway 87 at County Road 1520. Captain Smith said a large Chevrolet truck, driven by Newton resident Mike Harvard, was towing a bulldozer. When the accident occurred, the trailer and bulldozer turned over sideways. A crew from Hatch’s Towing & Recovery had use their equipment to upright the trailer and bulldozer.
