A man that had been running from the law for a week or more has been captured and is now in custody in Newton County.
Sheriff Robert Burby said the suspect which has apparently been on the run since Wednesday March 27th was located and arrested on Thursday morning in Newton. Burby and others believe the man to be the person who burglarized a vehicle near Big Cow Creek on Highway 87.
Upon their arrival at the scene and discovery of the man allegedly trying to break into a vehicle, the suspect took off running. Since that time, Sheriff Burby and his deputies along with others have been searching the area.
The name of the suspect has not been released pending formal charges and arraignment.
