Human remains were discovered Wednesday afternoon (April 3) in Shreveport.
The remains were found at a camp for unhoused individuals near Meriwether and Mansfield roads. Shreveport police officers say they believe the person has been there “a long time.” Police later clarified they believe the body had been there for about six months to a year.
At 3:30 p.m., KSLA crews could see four coroner vehicles and a CSI unit at the scene.
Currently, KSLA is unsure if they are male or female or how long they’ve been deceased. Police say the bones were scattered around, and that it appears an animal(s) may have got ahold of the body.
Police are not treating the case as a homicide at this time.
